Emergency services in Azerbaijan's capital Baku are evacuating residents from flooded areas in the Keshla settlement after residential homes were affected by waterlogging caused by a malfunction in a sewer collector.

The incident was reported via the “112” hotline, prompting the immediate deployment of multiple rescue units to the scene, The Caspian Post reports via Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Emergency Situations.

Specialized teams, including the State Fire Protection Service, the State Rescue Service for Special Risks, the State Water Rescue Service, and the Baku Regional Center of the ministry, were dispatched to manage the situation and assist residents.

The rescuers are currently evacuating residents from the affected homes while implementing additional safety measures to prevent further risks.

The flooding is linked to infrastructure issues in the drainage system within the Nizami District, one of the city’s densely populated areas.
