Former US Co-Chair of the OSCE Minsk Group and President of Juno Global Strategies, James Warlick, has said that he was very pleased about the meeting between the leaders of Armenia and Azerbaijan in Washington and described the event as a historic opportunity.
“I'm very pleased to see that the leaders of Armenia and Azerbaijan are coming together in Washington, and it's a historic opportunity to sign a peace agreement or at least the framework of an agreement,” he said, The Caspian Post informs, citing local media.
“This is just the beginning of a process, and we know there are many outstanding questions left, but it is an important start, and we hope this will bring peace and prosperity to the region,” Warlick emphasized.
“The U.S. and Azerbaijan have had a long-standing and very positive relationship, and this becomes one element of that. We’ve worked together on issues such as international terrorism, the problem of Iran, energy security, and others. I expect that cooperation to continue. We have also worked together on peace and security between Armenia and Azerbaijan, and I am pleased to see that we will continue to do so in the future,” he added.
