On December 5, the Kyrgyz delegation, led by Minister of Emergency Situations Boobek Azhikeyev, participated in the Assembly of Depositors of the Environmental Remediation Account for Central Asia (ERA) meeting in London, UK.
Boobek Azhikeyev made a statement emphasizing that environmental and radiation safety remain the most important priorities for Kyrgyzstan, the press service of the Emergency Ministry said, The Caspian Post reports, citing Kyrgyz media.
Thanks to partnership with international organizations and financial institutions, uranium facilities in the villages of Min-Kush and Shekaftar have already been brought to a safe condition. Work is also underway to rehabilitate the uranium complex in Mailuu-Suu.

The meeting approved key documents, including the annual financial report of the ERA and the budget for 2025. The Fund, initiated by the EU and EBRD, continues to play a strategic role in the rehabilitation of uranium legacy sites in Central Asia, contributing to the sustainable development of Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.
