A shocking domestic violence incident in Kazakhstan's capital Astana has gone viral after video footage showing a man assaulting his wife near a baby stroller spread rapidly across social media.

The disturbing scene shows the couple standing on a staircase beside a stroller containing a child when the man suddenly begins attacking the woman, The Caspian Post reports via Kazakh media.

Police in Kazakhstan confirmed the arrest of a 34-year-old suspect and the opening of a criminal investigation.

The assault took place near a residential building in the capital. The suspect has been detained and placed in an isolation facility as the investigation continues.

A protection order has also been issued, banning the man from contacting the victim.

The case has sparked widespread public outrage online, drawing renewed attention to domestic violence issues in Kazakhstan. It comes shortly after another brutal abuse case reported in the Zhetysu Region, where a woman was severely injured in an attack that caused multiple fractures and serious trauma.
