An official reception celebrating Romania's National Day took place in Baku.
The event organized by the Romanian Embassy in Azerbaijan began with performance of the national anthems of both countries, The Caspian Post reports citing local media.
Addressing the event, Romanian Ambassador to Azerbaijan Vasile Soare highlighted the country’s history and the importance of the National Day. He noted that the declaration of the Great Union by the Romanians of Bessarabia, Bukovina and Transylvania in Alba Iulia in 1918 played an important role in the formation of Romanian statehood.
Speaking about the friendly relations between Azerbaijan and Romania, the ambassador emphasized that these ties had elevated to the level of strategic partnership, and cooperation in politics, economics, energy, transport and humanitarian fields was developing dynamically. The ambassador hailed the Green Energy Corridor project, transport routes across the Black Sea and the growth of bilateral trade relations as indicators of a strong dialogue between the two countries.
Deputy Speaker of Azerbaijan’s Milli Majlis Musa Gasimli conveyed President Ilham Aliyev's sincere congratulations to the state and people of Romania on the occasion of the National Day.
