Türkiye has achieved a new milestone in its foreign trade, with the volume of transactions conducted in the national currency reaching an all-time high of 698.08 billion Turkish lira in the first half of 2025.
This marks a significant 34.4 per cent increase compared to the same period in 2024, when the figure stood at 520 billion lira, The Caspian Post reports, citing the Turkish Trade Ministry.
The ministry revealed that over the past six months, Türkiye exported goods in Turkish lira to 164 countries, demonstrating growing international confidence in using the national currency for cross-border trade.
“In June, 29,291 Turkish companies carried out export operations using the national currency,” the ministry said in a statement, emphasizing the widening use of the lira in global markets.
In addition to the surge in lira-based trade, Türkiye’s overall export performance also showed positive growth. Trade Minister Ömer Bolat announced that the country’s total exports rose by 4.1 per cent in the first half of 2025, amounting to $131.4 billion. The government aims to raise this figure to $270 billion by the end of the year.
