There are currently no plans for a phone call between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan regarding the evolving situation in Syria, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said.
"At this moment, no," he said when asked whether there are such plans, The Caspian Post reports, citing TASS.
Their previous phone call was held on November 24. Back then, the two presidents discussed issues of bilateral cooperation and "a range of international topics," the Kremlin said.
The situation in Syria has escalated following an attack by illegal armed groups on the country’s northwestern governorates.
Peskov told journalists earlier that Russia continues supporting Syrian President Bashar Assad, maintains communication with Damascus and is following the situation in that country closely.
