The South Korean government has announced a $3 million donation over the next three years to aid climate change initiatives in Central Asia.

The contribution was formalized during ministerial meetings in Kazakhstan under the Asian Development Bank's (ADB) CAREC program, The Caspian Post reports, citing foreign media.

The CAREC program, a partnership involving 11 countries and various development organizations, aims to foster regional growth and cooperation. South Korea’s donation will be allocated to the Climate and Sustainability Project Preparatory Fund, which is dedicated to developing infrastructure, advancing energy projects, and supporting agriculture, fisheries, and the stabilization of regional supply chains.

The South Korean finance ministry expressed optimism that the fund would enhance collaboration between South Korea and Central Asian nations, facilitating the launch of climate-focused initiatives driven by South Korea’s support.
