European Commissioner for Enlargement, Marta Kos, is scheduled to present the 2025 Enlargement Package to the European Parliament’s Foreign Affairs Committee.
European Parliament says the session will include debates on the progress of candidate and potential candidate countries toward EU membership, The Caspian Post reports citing foreign media.
Following the European Commission’s assessment of reform efforts, the committee’s rapporteurs will prepare country-specific resolutions outlining the Parliament’s conclusions and recommendations.
The EU’s annual enlargement report on Georgia will be published on November 4, as confirmed by EU Ambassador to Georgia Pavel Hercinski. “It will be a very long and substantial document presented by the European Commission, describing in detail what happened in Georgia over the past year and how it relates to the country’s aspiration to join the EU,” Hercinski said.
He added that the report will be unveiled during a press conference in Brussels, hosted by European Commission Vice-President Kaja Kallas and Enlargement Commissioner Marta Kos, while he will hold a separate briefing in Tbilisi on the same day to answer questions about Georgia’s performance.
