AP: US Military Death Toll in Iran Conflict Rises to 17

The number of US service members killed during the conflict with Iran has risen to 17.

US Central Command (CENTCOM) said an American service member was killed in Iraq on July 18 during the controlled detonation of munitions recovered from a downed Iranian drone, The Caspian Post reports via AP.

Earlier, on July 17, CENTCOM reported that two US troops were killed in Jordan while responding to an Iranian attack. Another service member was initially reported missing, and on July 19, the command announced that human remains had been found near the site of the latest Iranian strike. The official death toll could rise to 18 pending identification.

More than 400 US military personnel have been wounded since the outbreak of hostilities with Iran.
