Iran has granted limited safe passage to several vessels from India through the Strait of Hormuz, according to Tehran’s ambassador to India, Mohammad Fathali.
Fathali made the remarks while speaking at a conclave organised by broadcaster India Today in New Delhi, The Caspian Post reports, citing Al Jazeera.
He did not specify how many Indian ships had been permitted to pass through the strategic waterway.
The decision represents a rare exception to the broader restrictions on maritime traffic through the Strait of Hormuz, which Iran has largely halted amid the ongoing conflict involving the United States and Israel.
