Iran has ordered a member of Sweden’s diplomatic mission in Tehran to leave the country within 48 hours.
The decision was announced after Sweden’s ambassador was summoned to Iran’s Foreign Ministry, according to Tasnim.
Alireza Yousefi, director of the ministry’s Western Europe department, protested Sweden’s policies and rhetoric, as well as Stockholm’s decision to provide asylum to groups described by Iran as anti-Iranian.
Iran’s Foreign Ministry said the expulsion of the Swedish diplomat was a reciprocal measure following Sweden’s refusal to allow an Iranian diplomat to continue working at Iran’s embassy in Sweden.
The Iranian side also rejected the accusations made by Stockholm.
