Iran and Oman have reached an agreement on a plan to reopen the Strait of Hormuz to shipping, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said.

Araghchi made the statement during a meeting with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, according to TASS.

“The Iranian side believes that the memorandum of understanding between the US and Iran remains in force. Iran has already agreed with Oman on a plan to reopen the Strait of Hormuz and believes that the US side should in good faith fulfill all the commitments it has undertaken,” Araghchi said.

The Strait of Hormuz is a key global shipping route connecting the Persian Gulf with the Gulf of Oman and the Arabian Sea.
