The US administration has expressed concern over the scale of Israel’s recent attacks on Iran’s fuel facilities.
The US did not anticipate strikes on 30 Iranian fuel depots last Saturday (February 28), marking the first major disagreement between the allies since the war began, The Caspian Post reports via foreign media.
Washington fears that such attacks could unite Iranian society, strengthen support for Tehran’s leadership, and drive up global oil prices.
While Israel did notify the US of its plans, American military officials expected a more limited operation. “We don’t think this is a good idea,” one official said. The report adds that consultations between Washington and Tel Aviv are planned, with a visit to Israel by Jared Kushner and President Biden’s special envoy Steve Witkoff scheduled for March 10.
