Iranian government spokesperson Fatemeh Mohajerani said US President Donald Trump’s claim that Iran’s oil minister resigned under pressure from the US war was “a futile effort to hide his own failures.”

Mohajerani said the minister’s resignation should not be viewed as a sign of weakness, describing it instead as an example of flexibility within a stable political system, The Caspian Post reports, citing Al Jazeera.

Speaking to reporters on Tuesday, Trump said Iran’s oil minister had “just quit,” claiming that the minister told him, “We have no economy, we have no oil, we have nothing.”
