The United States plans to send special envoy Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner to Pakistan in the coming days for talks with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, according to US officials, The Caspian Post reports, citing CNN.
Vice President JD Vance is not expected to attend, while Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad-Bagher Ghalibaf will also be absent.
US officials view Ghalibaf as leading Iran’s delegation and Vance’s main counterpart.
Vance remains on standby to travel to Islamabad if progress is made, with members of his team expected to join the talks.
Kushner and Witkoff have held months of discussions with Iranian officials on a possible deal concerning Tehran’s nuclear materials.
