Jackie Chan Discusses New Film Projects in Kazakhstan

Kazakhstan’s Vice President Erlan Karin has met with the production team behind an international film project, including world-renowned actor and director Jackie Chan.

The meeting brought together Jackie Chan, as well as foreign and Kazakh producers Esmond Ren, Rustem Omarov, Igor Tsai and Orynbasar Kudaibergenov, Qazinform reports.

The participants discussed international cooperation in cinematography and opportunities to expand joint film projects in Kazakhstan.

Karin noted that President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev places particular emphasis on developing new technologies and creative industries while creating opportunities for citizens to realize their creative potential.

He also highlighted the importance of major international film projects for the development of Kazakhstan’s domestic film industry and the country’s growing appeal as a destination for international productions.

Kazakhstan highlights AI’s growing role in filmmaking

The meeting also focused on the use of artificial intelligence and other new technologies in cinema.

Karin said the Astana AI Film Festival was held in the capital as part of the Year of Digitalization and Artificial Intelligence. More than 8,000 entries from 125 countries were submitted to the competition for films created using AI.

Moreover, Karin said that the festival became the world’s largest event dedicated to AI filmmaking in terms of both the number of submissions and its international reach.

At the conclusion of the meeting, Karin thanked Jackie Chan for his warm attitude toward Kazakhstan and wished the project’s participants continued creative success.
