Kazakhstan Launches Second Stage of Military Pay Raises

Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Defense has announced the second phase of salary increases for military personnel.

The raise will apply to officers, sergeants, and enlisted soldiers, The Caspian Post reports via Kazakh media.

From January 1, 2026, officers will see an additional 23 per cent increase, while enlisted and sergeant ranks will receive a 10 per cent boost compared to the first phase of the pay raise system.

In the previous stage, starting January 1, 2025, officer salaries grew by an average of 20.3 per cent, and enlisted and sergeant pay increased by 33.9 per cent. The ministry also reinstated field allowances, paying 1.2 times the monthly reference index (5,190 tenge in 2026 or $10.17) per day of participation in field exercises, naval missions, and training-without requiring travel expense claims.

The ministry highlighted reduced financial burdens on soldiers and their families. More than 20,000 conscripts benefited from “loan holidays,” totaling around 8 billion tenge ($15.681 million).
