Kazakhstan is expanding cooperation with leading European legal institutions, with plans to establish a regional center focused on research, professional training and international projects.

During a working visit to Greece, Nurgalym Abdirov, rector of the Law Enforcement Academy under Kazakhstan’s Prosecutor General’s Office, attended a meeting of the Board of Directors of the European Public Law Organization (EPLO) and held talks with the leadership of EPLO and the European Law and Governance University (ELGU), Qazinform reports.

EPLO is an international organization that brings together states, universities and research institutions working in public law, the rule of law and professional education.

Following the meetings, Kazakhstan’s Law Enforcement Academy signed a memorandum of understanding with EPLO and a cooperation agreement with ELGU. The agreements cover joint educational, research and expert projects.

One of the key outcomes was an agreement to establish an EPLO Regional Center at the Academy. The center will support joint research, participation in international and grant-funded projects, as well as training and professional development for law enforcement and government officials.

The sides also identified several priority areas for modern law enforcement, including cybersecurity, artificial intelligence and the fight against transnational organized crime.

Cooperation with ELGU will include joint educational programs, including dual-degree programs, academic exchanges and internships. An agreement was also reached to send 20 master’s and doctoral students from the Academy for internships.

The parties further discussed creating joint research groups and potentially opening an ELGU branch at the Academy.

Kazakhstan’s Prosecutor General’s Office said the agreements are aimed at turning international cooperation into practical projects through joint research and education, expert exchanges, internships and broader access to international expertise.
