Russia, Kyrgyzstan Focus on Better Conditions for Migrant Workers

Russia and Kyrgyzstan have discussed improving conditions for Kyrgyz labor migrants and strengthening bilateral cooperation.

Marlen Mamataliev, Speaker of the Jogorku Kenesh (parliament), met with Sergey Vakunov, Russia’s extraordinary and plenipotentiary ambassador to Kyrgyzstan, The Caspian Post reports via the Kyrgyz parliament.

The meeting focused on enhancing Kyrgyz-Russian strategic partnership and exchanging views on current issues affecting both countries.

Mamataliev emphasized the importance of political dialogue, trust-based cooperation, and expanding inter-parliamentary ties. He announced plans for an official visit to Russia in the near future, which he said would boost bilateral relations and parliamentary collaboration.

A key topic of discussion was the welfare of Kyrgyz labor migrants and their families in Russia. Mamataliev also proposed solutions for legalizing vehicles with Russian license plates currently in Kyrgyzstan. “No issue is unsolvable. As partners, we must discuss every problem openly and find solutions through dialogue,” he stated.

Vakunov congratulated Mamataliev on his election as parliament speaker, expressed support for his upcoming visit to Russia, and highlighted the importance of the proposals raised. Both sides agreed to intensify inter-parliamentary cooperation at international platforms and within specialized committees.
