Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan Highlight Importance of Joint Military Drills

Azerbaijan’s Defense Minister, Colonel General Zakir Hasanov on Monday arrived in the Uzbek city of Samarkand to take part in the Distinguished Visitors Day of the "Unity-2025" (Birlik-2025) exercise.

As part of the visit, Minister Hasanov held a meeting with his Uzbek counterpart, Lieutenant General Shukhrat Khalmukhamedov in Samarkand, The Caspian Post reports, citing Azerbaijan’s Defense Ministry.

The parties discussed the current state and prospects for the development of cooperation in the military, military-technical and military-educational spheres, and highlighted the importance of holding joint exercises to exchange experience.

The ministers also praised the current level of military cooperation between the two countries and exchanged views on expanding the existing ties.

The meeting was also attended by Azerbaijani Ambassador to Uzbekistan Huseyn Guliyev.
