French President Emmanuel Macron and Bidzina Ivanishvili, the founder and Honorary Chair of Georgia"s ruling Georgian Dream party, have discussed the latest developments in Georgia following the government"s announcement to delay EU accession talks until 2028.
Macron noted he was "concerned" about the situation in Georgia, on the backdrop of ongoing _, and expressed desire to contribute to its "complete deescalation", the Georgian Dream press office said, The Caspian Post reports, citing Georgian media.
Ivanishvili thanked Macron for the initiative and welcomed the idea of "joint efforts".
The officials agreed to get in contact in the coming days to assess progress made in the process.
The hour-long phone conversation was held at the initiative of the French President.
