Russia Claims Kyrgyzstan Took Unlawful Actions Against Its Companies

Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin has accused Kyrgyzstan of unlawful actions and extortion targeting Russian companies operating within the country, according to a report by the Russian business outlet Kommersant on January 31.

During a meeting with the head of the Kyrgyz government, Adylbek Kasymaliev, Mishustin revealed that companies are receiving "unfounded claims" from high-ranking Kyrgyz officials, The Caspian Post reports.

According to him, these companies are "reputable and conscientious" organizations that are among the largest taxpayers.

"We request that the leadership of Kyrgyzstan stop the administrative pressure on our companies and ensure the protection of the rights and legitimate interests of Russian investors," Mishustin added.

The Russian premier also mentioned that specific instances of illegal actions have been outlined in a diplomatic note sent by the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs to the Kyrgyz embassy.

Previously, it was reported that several countries, formerly considered allies of Russia, have disrupted Vladimir Putin's ambitious economic plans.

Additionally, Russia's foreign trade has effectively been limited to just five countries.
