Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has praised Azerbaijan’s leadership and expressed optimism about Khankendi’s future, calling it a potential hub of peace and development in the Caucasus.
The president made these remarks during the 17th Summit of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO), held in the historic city of Azerbaijan’s Khankendi, The Caspian Post reports via local media.
In his address, President Erdoğan underscored his confidence in Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev’s vision for the region.
“I sincerely express my confidence that, thanks to the visionary leadership of my brother, President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, the ancient city of Khankendi will transform into a new center of development and peace in the Caucasus region,” he stated.
The Turkish leader also highlighted the symbolic importance of hosting the ECO Summit on Azerbaijan’s liberated territories.
“The organization of this summit in the liberated city of Khankendi lends special significance and meaning to the event,” Erdoğan emphasized.
The 17th Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) Summit is being held in Khankendi, gathering leaders and officials from member countries to explore ways to strengthen regional collaboration.
Azerbaijan’s President Ilham Aliyev attended the summit.
Also present at the event are the presidents and prime ministers of Tajikistan (Emomali Rahmon), Turkey (Recep Tayyip Erdoğan), Iran (Masoud Pezeshkian), Uzbekistan (Shavkat Mirziyoyev), Pakistan (Shehbaz Sharif), as well as the leader of Northern Cyprus, Ersin Tatar.
