Türkiye Appoints New Envoy to Azerbaijan

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has signed a decree to appoint Birol Akgun as the country’s new ambassador to Azerbaijan.

The corresponding decree of the Turkish president was published on the Official Gazette’s website, The Caspian Post reports.

Prior to this appointment, Akgün served as the chairman of the Turkish Maarif Vakfi Educational Foundation.

The decree also included other notable appointments. Zeki Levent Gumrukcu was named as the new Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Türkiye.

In addition, Ferhat Alkan has been appointed as Türkiye's Ambassador to Mozambique, while Yakup Caymazoglu, the President's Chief Advisor, will now serve as Ambassador to the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. New ambassadors have also been appointed to Cuba and the UAE.
