Uzbekistan, Ukraine Aim to Revive Political Dialogue

Uzbekistan’s Foreign Minister Bakhtiyor Saidov met with Ukraine’s Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly.

According to Saidov, the meeting focused on key issues in bilateral relations, including trade, investment, education and cultural cooperation, as well as the main directions of multilateral engagement within international organizations, The Caspian Post reports, citing Uzbek media.

“Our meeting reaffirmed the mutual commitment of Uzbekistan and Ukraine to deepen dialogue, strengthen partnership, and explore new opportunities that will benefit our peoples,” Saidov wrote.

For his part, Andrii Sybiha emphasized that the sides had agreed to resume political dialogue and expand bilateral and multilateral cooperation in various areas.

“We agreed to resume political dialogue and enhance bilateral and multilateral cooperation in areas of mutual interest. Ukraine is committed to developing relations with Uzbekistan and strengthening ties with Central Asia,” the Ukrainian diplomat wrote.

For reference, the last round of political consultations between the two countries’ foreign ministries took place in May 2021.
