Russian tourists in Bali are having excursions and other off-island activities canceled amid a severe fuel shortage that has triggered long queues at gas stations across the Indonesian island.
In major areas, including Denpasar, Kuta and Ubud, motorists are reportedly facing kilometer-long lines at gas stations that have run out of gasoline. Local residents are struggling to refuel cars, scooters and other vehicles, according to SHOT.
The shortage has significantly disrupted their holiday plans, with tour operators canceling excursions and other trips because of the lack of fuel.
Taxi services have also been affected. Some drivers are reportedly refusing ride requests to avoid getting stranded on the road without gasoline.
The most noticeable problems have been reported at gas stations operated by the local Pertamina network.
To help address the shortage, a vessel carrying around 20,000 cubic meters of gasoline has arrived in Bali. Several more tankers are expected to arrive in the coming days.
