Mass Evacuations as Floodwaters Swamp Village in Russia's Dagestan

Severe flooding has inundated hundreds of houses in Dagestan, Russia, forcing a large-scale evacuation as emergency crews race to assist affected residents.

In Adilotar village of Khasavyurt district, more than 460 homes have been flooded. Acting district head Bagautdin Mamaev confirmed that 468 houses are currently underwater, with authorities carrying out a full evacuation of the population, The Caspian Post reports via Russian media.

Residents are being transported to safety using trucks and off-road vehicles, while three temporary shelters have been set up. However, many evacuees have chosen to stay with relatives instead.

The flooding has also impacted healthcare services. A total of 43 patients were evacuated from a hospital in Batayurt - six were transferred to a central hospital in Khasavyurt, while the rest were discharged to continue recovery at home.
