One Dead as Explosive Boat Strikes Oil Tanker Off Oman Coast

Oman’s Maritime Security Center reported that the oil tanker (MKD VYOM) was attacked by an explosive-laden boat while it was sailing 52 nautical miles off the coast of Muscat Governorate.

One crew member was killed after the attack resulted in a fire and an explosion in the engine room, according the statement on their X account, The Caspian Post reports, citing foreign media.

The rest of the crew, consisting of 21 people, was evacuated.

One of the vessels of the Royal Navy of Oman is monitoring the tanker’s condition, and the necessary navigational warnings have been issued to ships transiting the maritime area.
