Ramzan Kadyrov Begins New Term as Leader of Russia's Chechen Republic

Ramzan Kadyrov has officially taken office as Head of Chechnya.

Kadyrov was elected head of the Russian region following a vote held in September 2026, TASS reports.

After 100% of the ballots were counted, Kadyrov received 99.85% of the vote, with 830,690 voters supporting his candidacy.

Voter turnout in the election stood at 95.19%.
