Turkish Minister: Middle Corridor to Cut China-Europe Transit Time to 14 Days

Turkish Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu has said that the delivery time for goods shipped from China to Europe via the Middle Corridor may drop from 18 days to 14 days.

Uraloğlu explained that the reduced transit period will be possible once the Kars-Iğdır-Aralık-Dilucu railway line, a key segment of the Zangezur Corridor, becomes operational, The Caspian Post reports via local media.

“Shipping through the Suez Canal takes more than 35 days, while the maritime route via the Cape of Good Hope exceeds 45 days. With the planned Development Route project, combining both sea and rail transport, transit time will be around 25 days,” he said.

The minister highlighted that the Zangezur Corridor project will also open new opportunities for regional transport and logistics development.

“The Zangezur Corridor will strengthen regional peace and economic cooperation among Türkiye, Azerbaijan, and Armenia. It serves as the only gateway for Armenia opening toward the West,” Uraloğlu added.
