Tajikistan Imposes New Power Cuts

Tajikistan’s Distribution Electric Networks company has issued new instructions to its branches for restricting electricity supply to certain consumer groups.

Under the new rules, first-category consumers with connected capacity up to 5 kW - excluding Dushanbe - including industrial and non-industrial facilities, will face complete power shutdowns during the restriction period, The Caspian Post informs via Tajik media.

Additionally, smart meters will be temporarily disconnected from the billing system in a sequential manner. Budget organizations will have electricity suspended from 18:00 (GMT+5) until the next working day, and all other state-owned enterprises will be disconnected during the same hours.

Street lighting not considered strategically important will be turned off, and electric vehicle charging stations will be disabled from 18:00 to 22:00.

The duration of the new restrictions has not been announced yet.
