Ten Tajik Judokas Set to Compete at Prestigious Abu Dhabi Grand Slam

Ten of Tajikistan’s top judokas are gearing up to take the mat at the Abu Dhabi Grand Slam 2025, one of the world’s most prestigious judo tournaments.

From November 28 to 30, the Abu Dhabi Grand Slam 2025 will bring together the world’s best judokas for one of the most anticipated events of the late season, The Caspian Post informs via Tajik media.

Hosted at the Mubadala Arena in the UAE, the tournament will feature 365 athletes from 43 countries, all competing for medals, ranking points, and a share of the 154,000-euro-prize pool.

Tajikistan, a nation with a strong judo tradition, is sending a ten-member men’s team to battle across all weight categories - from 60 kg to 100 kg. The lineup includes both emerging talents and experienced fighters:

Mehrzod Sufiyev (60 kg)

Mullorajab Khalifayev (66 kg)

Abubakr Sherov, Muhiddin Asadulloyev (73 kg)

Sunatullo Musoyev, Behrouz Khojazoda (81 kg)

Abdulkhad Majidov, Muhammadjon Abdudjalilzoda (90 kg)

Somon Kishvarov, Jahongir Majidov (100 kg)

This mix of youth and experience gives Tajikistan a strong shot at podium finishes and crucial world ranking points.

The Abu Dhabi Grand Slam also serves as a major stepping stone toward the 2026 season and upcoming Olympic qualification events. For younger judokas, it’s a valuable chance to test their skills against global powerhouses, while seasoned athletes aim to solidify their rankings and claim international recognition.

With 5,000 euros for gold, 3,000 euros for silver, and 1,500 euros for bronze, the competition offers not just prestige but also meaningful rewards - setting the stage for an intense and action-packed judo showdown in Abu Dhabi.
