A New Stage Of Cooperation Between Uzbekistan And Pakistan

The state visit of Uzbekistan’s President Shavkat Mirziyoyev to Pakistan has strengthened and elevated the strategic partnership between the two nations.

The high-level talks held in Islamabad were productive, open, and result-oriented. This creates a solid foundation for regional sustainability, economic integration, and long-term cooperation, The Caspian Post reports, citing Uzbek media.

During the visit, several bilateral agreements and memoranda were signed, covering areas such as trade, investment, defense, security, education, science, agriculture, information technology, culture, sports, and ecology.

In the field of economic cooperation, targets have been set to increase mutual trade turnover to $2 billion in the near future.

During the talks, special emphasis was placed on regional and international security, combating extremism and terrorism, and maintaining stability in Afghanistan.

Systematic cooperation is actively developing in the field of transport, communications, and logistics. The importance of accelerating the implementation of the Trans-Afghan Railway construction project and promoting the Pakistan - China - Kyrgyzstan - Uzbekistan transport corridor was emphasized.

In addition, the parties noted the expansion of cooperation in the cultural and humanitarian spheres. Exchange programs for youth, educational initiatives, sports, and cultural projects play a significant role in strengthening mutual understanding and friendship between people.

The agreements will deepen cooperation in priority areas.
