Mirziyoyev Outlines 2026 Goals for Uzbekistan's Textile Sector

On December 23, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev presided over a presentation detailing the textile sector's performance in 2025 and outlining strategic goals for the coming year.

It was noted that in 2025, production output in the textile industry reached UZS 134 trillion, The Caspian Post reports, citing Uzbek media.

The volume of foreign investment utilized amounted to $2.1 billion. Exports increased year-on-year, reaching $2.5 billion. Employment in the sector rose to 623,000 people, with the potential to increase this figure to 650,000 next year.

For 2026, the goal is to raise production output to UZS 147 trillion and boost exports to $3.3 billion.

The industry plans to attract $2.2 billion in foreign investment. As a result, additional production capacities will be created for 207,000 tons of synthetic and blended yarn, 397 million square meters of fabric, 224 million units of garment and knitwear products, as well as dyeing facilities for 108 million square meters of textiles.

At the same time, a number of factors constraining the industry’s sustainable development were highlighted. To address these challenges, specific measures have been developed for 2026. In particular, enterprises will be provided with $200 million in concessional loans to replenish working capital, financial rehabilitation will be carried out for 138 companies, and 100 new enterprises will be engaged in export activities.

Special attention will be paid to the introduction of international standards and certifications. Programs such as Better Work, BCI, FWF, and Organic EU will be implemented at 60 enterprises, while 15 companies will adopt international financial reporting standards. In addition, a modern textile laboratory will be established, capable of conducting quality analysis of finished products across 24 parameters.

Digitalization and production efficiency in the sector are expected to improve through the introduction of ERP systems and artificial intelligence technologies. This process will cover 40 enterprises.

After approving the proposed approaches, the head of state set specific tasks for responsible officials to consistently increase the share of finished products and reduce their production costs.
