Reports of a possible leak of databases containing users’ personal information from several popular services in Uzbekistan, including SafeRoad, inDrive, Lada Auto, KiwiTaxi and Fargo, have emerged on social media.
Digital technology expert Shukhrat Kurbanov said he found his own personal information among the records after reviewing the data being circulated. The information reportedly included his personal identification number (PINFL), residential addresses, and details about vehicles and related documents, The Caspian Post reports, citing UzDaily.
Kurbanov said he had initially assumed the databases contained mainly general information, such as email addresses.
However, his examination suggested that the records could also contain more sensitive data, including PINFL numbers, home addresses, information about vehicles associated with applications, vehicle registration numbers, and details from driving licences and vehicle registration certificates.
Other social media posts claim the databases may also contain records of purchases, delivery orders and medicines bought from pharmacies several years ago.
It remains unclear whether the data is actually connected to the services named in the reports or how many users may have been affected.
Kurbanov expressed hope that the relevant organisations had already been informed of the situation and had begun investigating the source of the information.
As of publication, there had been no official confirmation of a data breach, no estimate of the number of potentially affected users, and no comments from the services mentioned in the reports.
