Uzbek Energy Minister Sherzod Khodjaev is expected to lead a government delegation to Azerbaijan in the first 10 days of September.

During the visit, the Uzbek delegation is scheduled to hold talks with Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Energy and the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) on implementing priorities set by the two countries’ presidents, according to Spot.

Uzbekistan’s Energy Ministry said cooperation with Azerbaijan could cover raw material supplies, oil refining, production of finished goods, technology exchanges and the development of reliable logistics chains.

The ministry said such cooperation would help Uzbekistan strengthen the reliability of domestic supplies and diversify its sources, while giving Azerbaijan an opportunity to expand its presence in Central Asian markets and develop long-term industrial partnerships.

Khodjaev previously identified the joint production of petroleum products, including automotive and aviation fuel for Uzbekistan’s needs, as a promising area of energy cooperation between Baku and Tashkent.

Energy ties between the two countries are also developing in other areas, including hydrocarbon production on the Ustyurt Plateau and plans to supply Uzbek-generated renewable electricity to Europe through Azerbaijan, with Kazakhstan participating in the project.
