Uzbekistan, Fiji Eye Easing Visa Procedures

Uzbekistan’s ambassador to Fiji (with residence in Tokyo), Mukhsinkhuja Abdurakhmonov, held productive discussions with the country’s leadership in Suva.

In particular, at a meeting with Prime Minister - Minister of Foreign Affairs Sitiveni Rabuka, the parties discussed ways to take the partnership between the two countries to a new level, The Caspian Post reports, citing Uzbek media.

Sitiveni Rabuka noted that the appointment of Uzbekistan’s first ambassador to Fiji would contribute to further strengthening and developing friendly relations. He stressed the presence of significant untapped opportunities in politics, trade, economy, education, and tourism, expressing interest in expanding cooperation.

The talks also addressed the export of textile products and dried fruits from Uzbekistan to Fiji, the establishment of business partnerships, and the organization of reciprocal trade missions.

The Prime Minister - Minister of Foreign Affairs confirmed Fiji’s readiness to strengthen cooperation with Uzbekistan within the framework of the United Nations and other international organizations on issues of global peace, climate change, and sustainable development.

The sides also exchanged views on expanding cooperation between the foreign ministries, including holding consultations on key issues, simplifying the visa regime, and organizing reciprocal visits.

In addition, the Uzbek diplomat held talks with Fiji’s Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Tourism and Civil Aviation Viliame Rogoibulu Gavoka. The discussions focused on opportunities to diversify the tourism market, create new tourist destinations, promote tourism services, exchange experience in sustainable tourism, and implement academic exchanges.
