Uzbekistan plans to develop 30 new tourism areas by 2030 under comprehensive master plans aimed at creating modern infrastructure and sustainable destinations.
The plans were discussed during a meeting between Tourism Committee Chairman Abdulaziz Akkulov and İlkay Çorgundağ, director of UK-based engineering and consulting company Arup, according to UzA.
The talks focused on developing promising tourism destinations, improving infrastructure and introducing integrated approaches to tourism planning.
A key element of the strategy is the development of 30 new tourism areas by 2030, with each destination to be planned through a comprehensive master plan.
The plans are expected to bring transport networks, urban development, hotels, recreational facilities and other essential infrastructure together within a coordinated development framework.
Uzbekistan is also seeking to apply international expertise to these projects as it works to expand its tourism infrastructure.
The Project Office for Tourism Infrastructure Development was established under the Tourism Committee in April 2026 following a presidential resolution. The office is expected to help attract and apply international experience in the design and development of tourism infrastructure.
During the meeting, the Uzbek side and Arup representatives also discussed the company’s possible involvement in developing promising tourist destinations across the country.
Arup expressed interest in opening a representative office in Tashkent, potentially strengthening cooperation on future tourism and infrastructure projects.
