Armenia’s Prosecutor General’s Office has filed a motion with the Central Election Commission (CEC) seeking approval to revoke the parliamentary immunity of Prosperous Armenia Party leader and businessman Gagik Tsarukyan and launch criminal proceedings against him, according to the CEC, The Caspian Post reports, citing Armenpress.
Earlier, on June 9, the Prosecutor General’s Office announced that public criminal prosecution had been initiated against businessman and Prosperous Armenia Party Chairman Gagik Tsarukyan.
He is accused of evading taxes on an especially large scale.
As a preventive measure, authorities imposed a travel restriction on Tsarukyan, barring him from leaving his place of residence without prior authorization.
