Protesters Gather on Freedom Square in Armenia Demanding Release of Businessman Karapetyan

A rally organized by the Mer Dzevov ("In our Way") movement demanding the release of businessman Samvel Karapetyan is taking place on Freedom Square in Armenia's capital Yerevan.

The rally follows the latest extension of Karapetyan’s detention on October 16 and the recent mass arrests of clergy from the Aragatsotn Diocese, The Caspian Post reports via Armenian media.

The protest has drawn a diverse group of political and public figures, as well as clergy, with supporters of the “Sacred Struggle” movement and its leader, Archbishop Bagrat Galstanyan, also joining the rally.
