The World Bank Group mobilized approximately $100 million in private capital for Azerbaijan during the 2026 financial year.
The funding forms part of the World Bank Group’s Country Partnership Framework with Azerbaijan, which outlines a roadmap to support the country’s transition toward a more competitive and inclusive economy, according to Caliber.Az.
The framework focuses on two main objectives: boosting productivity and creating better jobs, while strengthening resilience and environmental sustainability.
According to the World Bank, the program aims to support job creation, develop small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), and expand access to sustainable financing.
It also prioritizes the development of the Middle Corridor, a key trade and transit route connecting Asia and Europe, alongside the modernization of digital infrastructure and the adoption of advanced technologies, including artificial intelligence.
Other priorities include attracting private investment, expanding renewable energy use, and improving water resource management.
The World Bank Group has significantly increased its global private capital mobilization in recent years. According to the organization, the amount rose more than threefold, from $35 billion in fiscal year 2022 to $112 billion in fiscal year 2026.
