Azerbaijan improved its position in global internet speed rankings in August, moving up three places for fixed broadband speeds to 78th among 149 countries.

The country’s average fixed broadband speed reached 92.77 Mbps, up 10.5% from 83.95 Mbps recorded in August 2025, according to the Speedtest Global Index.

Singapore ranked first globally for fixed broadband speed at 462.5 Mbps, while Afghanistan placed last at 5.76 Mbps.

Azerbaijan also improved its position for mobile internet, rising one place to 47th among 102 countries. The average mobile download speed reached 99.13 Mbps.

The United Arab Emirates topped the mobile rankings at 675.51 Mbps, while Afghanistan ranked last at 19.13 Mbps.

Baku slipped one place in the fixed broadband rankings, recording an average speed of 92.6 Mbps and ranking 116th among 194 cities.

Valparaiso, Chile, topped the city ranking at 416.81 Mbps, while Herat, Afghanistan, ranked last at 4.17 Mbps.

Meanwhile, Baku gained one position in the mobile internet ranking. With an average speed of 122.6 Mbps, the Azerbaijani capital ranked 78th among 149 cities.

Abu Dhabi led the global city ranking for mobile internet at 702.28 Mbps, while Misrata, Libya, recorded the lowest speed at 19.26 Mbps.
