Azerbaijan, Iran to Conduct Joint Naval Drills to Boost Caspian Sea Security

Iranian Navy vessels have arrived in Azerbaijan to participate in the upcoming AZIREX-2025 joint search and rescue exercise.

The ships entered Azerbaijan's territorial waters and reached the designated meeting point ahead of the multinational maritime drills, The Caspian Post reports, citing the Azerbaijani Defense Ministry.

A formal welcoming ceremony was held to mark their arrival, attended by high-ranking officials from the Azerbaijan Navy and other dignitaries. Following the ceremony, a meeting took place between the visiting Iranian naval delegation and the Commander of the Azerbaijan Navy.

During the meeting, both sides discussed ways to expand bilateral naval cooperation and finalize preparations for the AZIREX-2025 exercise. A briefing was also conducted to outline the objectives and operational details of the joint exercise, with participants addressing relevant questions.

The primary goal of AZIREX-2025 is to enhance maritime security in the Caspian Sea and improve coordination between the Iranian and Azerbaijani navies in conducting joint search and rescue operations.
