Azerbaijan's geopolitical position makes it an important connecting link between Central Asia, the South Caucasus and Europe, Ignazio Cassis, Federal Councillor and Head of the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs of the Swiss Confederation, OSCE Chairman-in-Office, has said.

Cassis made the remarks during a press briefing in Baku with Azerbaijan's Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov, Report informs.

"Azerbaijan's geopolitical position turns the country into an important link between Central Asia, the South Caucasus and Europe. The development of the Middle Corridor and reliable, diversified trade routes is of great importance for the modern global economy," Cassis said.

He added that strengthening regional connectivity and cooperation is also of great interest to Switzerland.
