Kazakhstan has extradited Azerbaijani citizen Adalat Mustafayev to Azerbaijan after he was detained while being internationally wanted on fraud charges.

The extradition request was approved by Kazakhstan’s Prosecutor General’s Office in accordance with the Convention on Legal Assistance signed on October 7, 2002, The Caspian Post reports, citing the Prosecutor General's Office of Azerbaijan.

Mustafayev is accused of committing fraud as part of a group of individuals acting under a prior agreement, causing significant financial damage. He was placed on an international wanted list after evading the investigation.

He was detained in Kazakhstan and subsequently returned to Azerbaijan under the escort of a special convoy from the Justice Ministry's Penitentiary Service.
