The Azerbaijani capital will host the 2nd Baku Water Week on September 10-12, bringing together the International Exhibition and Conference on Water Management.
The event is set to serve as a vital platform for dialogue, cooperation, and innovation in the field of water resources, The Caspian Post informs per local media.
Supported by the State Water Resources Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan and organized by Caspian Event Organisers with backing from the Azerbaijan Exhibition Organisers Association (ASTA), Baku Water Week aims to strengthen Azerbaijan’s water management sector, attract new technologies and investments, and promote regional collaboration on sustainable solutions.
Highlighting its global significance, Saudi Arabia’s ACWA Power - the world’s largest private water desalination company and a leader in renewable energy and green hydrogen - will serve as the event’s general sponsor.
Selim Güven, the company’s General Country Manager for Azerbaijan and Türkiye, emphasized ACWA Power’s commitment to advancing sustainable water management:
“We are a developer, investor, and operator of power generation and desalinated water plants across 15 countries, with an investment portfolio of USD 117 billion. In Azerbaijan, we have already invested USD 340 million in the Khizi-Absheron wind power plant and will allocate USD 400 million for the Caspian Seawater Desalination Project - the first large-scale facility of its kind in the region. Our participation in Baku Water Week reflects our commitment to advancing sustainable water solutions and strengthening regional water security.”
As part of the program, ACWA Power executives will participate in the 2nd International Conference on Water Management. CEO Marco Arcelli will address the plenary session on “Leadership in Water Governance: Regional and Global Perspectives,” while Selim Güven will contribute to the panel on “Innovative Approaches to Alternative Water Resources Management.”
The event’s agenda will focus on efficient water use, climate change challenges, water diplomacy, and the adoption of innovative technologies. Alongside the exhibition and conference, B2B and B2G meetings will provide opportunities for government agencies, businesses, and start-ups to develop partnerships.
