On January 30, a permanent working group operating under the State Commission of Azerbaijan on Combating Drug Abuse and Illegal Drug Trafficking carried out the destruction of a large consignment of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances confiscated by the country's State Customs Committee.
In total, 858 kilograms and 632 grams of illegal substances were destroyed, The Caspian Post reports.
According to official information, the seized drugs included 453 kilograms and 924.517 grams of heroin, 394 kilograms and 224.36 grams of marijuana, 2 kilograms and 245.25 grams of opium, and 5 kilograms and 224.72 grams of hashish resin. In addition, 26,884 tablets classified as psychotropic and potent substances were eliminated.
Authorities stated that the estimated value of the destroyed narcotics on the black market exceeds 52 million manat, underscoring the scale of the trafficking operation disrupted through these 25 investigations.
