President Aliyev: Azerbaijan, Italy Are True Strategic Partners

Azerbaijan and Italy are true strategic partners, President Ilham Aliyev said during a joint press statement with his Italian counterpart Sergio Mattarella.

"This is the second visit of Italian President Sergio Mattarella to Azerbaijan. His first official visit took place seven years ago," the head of state said, The Caspian Post reports, citing AZERTAC.

"Today’s visit demonstrates that Italy-Azerbaijan relations are developing very successfully, and we are true strategic partners," the Azerbaijani leader added.

The head of state stressed that over the years, Azerbaijan-Italy relations have developed rapidly and across various directions. "Political relations are at the highest level," he noted.

He emphasized that in the economic sphere, Italy is Azerbaijan’s top trading partner.
