SOCAR Strikes $480 Million Deal with UAE’s Esyasoft to Digitize Azerbaijan’s Gas Network

The State Oil Company of the Republic of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) has taken a major step toward the digital transformation of its gas distribution system by signing a $480 million agreement with Esyasoft Holding LTD, a leading technology firm based in the United Arab Emirates.

Under the contract, Azerigaz Production Union, a SOCAR subsidiary, and Esyasoft will collaborate to design, install, and commission a nationwide Smart Gas Network aimed at modernizing Azerbaijan’s gas infrastructure, The Caspian Post reports via local media.

The project, which will span approximately 14 years, envisions the deployment of 2.5 million smart meters across the country, along with the implementation of cutting-edge technologies that will streamline operations, reduce energy losses, and enhance public satisfaction.

The initiative is part of SOCAR’s broader push to optimize gas distribution and improve customer service through the use of digital solutions and artificial intelligence. The investment will support:

Digitalization of the gas distribution system

Installation of smart pressure and temperature sensors

Creation of a Digital Solutions Lab

Personnel training and international knowledge exchange

Integration of data with the Azerbaijan Government Cloud

Construction of a modern control center equipped with the latest technologies

Consumers are expected to benefit from more accurate billing, real-time usage tracking, faster issue resolution, and remote service access, marking a significant leap forward in Azerbaijan’s energy service standards.

The agreement builds upon a cooperation memorandum signed between SOCAR and Esyasoft during the COP29 climate conference held in Baku in 2024.

The signing ceremony was attended by SOCAR President Rovshan Najaf, Director General of Azerigaz PU Azer Mammadov, and Group CEO of Esyasoft Holding Bipin Chandra, who all reaffirmed their commitment to long-term technological cooperation.
